Myself and my mate Billy did the classic climb on Saturday May 18th 2013, taking in 3 of the classic climbs of the Island; Coll d’Orient, Coll de Soller and the mighty Puig Major. We started and finished in Porta Pollenca and it was exactly 90 miles. I am a novice and it took 7.5 hours and it was pretty togh tapping it out for up to 15km @ av 6.7 degrees. The climbs were awesome but made all worth while by the decents. Bunyola a great place to stop for refueling. Reccommend it to anyone who is doing Etape 2013, as this circuit is very similar in its shape, length and challenge. Good luck.

Did it again this year except with my mates – Roli and Atko. It wasn’t any easier. Strangely enough I think there is a harder ride. From Porto Pollenca to La Lluc monastery, then up to the summit before dropping down to Sa Collobra, quick pint of beer and a bit of fish at the Beach restaurant, and trying to resist the temptation of boarding the ferry with the bikes. We thought about it but didn’t succumb, and then had to climb up out of the place we got ourselves into by doing the same route in reverse. We were banjo’ed by the time we got to Tolo’s Bar.

I’ve just ridden this route(late October 2014). I love riding in the mountains & really enjoyed this ride. It’s hard, the last climb up Puig Major especially so on tired legs, so I suggest not going too hard on the first two Cols. It’s best to ‘keep your powder dry’!
One things for certain though, it definitely deserves it’s ‘Classic’ status.

This route was mostly awesome, except where it starts and ends. All the roads around Binibona are awful and it would be best if you take it easy through them. I did and still came off my bike on some gravel road around Binibona, take care on this part of the route.

We did a truncated of this route, starting at Selva clockwise, missing out the Pollensa leg and going directly back to Selva from LLuc. 95km.
Coffee stop at Orient. I had a spill on one of the hairpins descending the col d’honor. This particular hairpin had new tarmac, was wet and totally lethal. Grazed hip and arm were my only injuries fortunately. Lunch in Soller and then the climb to Puig Major had us in the granny ring and really suffering by the time we reached the tunnel that marks the top of the climb. Chased down a few cars on the way down (do I ever learn?) to our starting point. Awesome circuit, taking in some of the best hill climbs on the island.
